Next Steps

I understand that there are many steps that I can take to achieve my goal of becoming a healthcare administrator in the field of nuclear medicine. These steps include acquiring additional certifications in my field and attending leadership workshops. My immediate goals are to complete the following objectives:

  • I will obtain my certification as a Nuclear Cardiology Technologist. This certification is provided by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board and requires an active NMTCB certification, a minimum of 700 hours of documented clinical experience as a registered nuclear medicine technologist and sitting for the NCT examination. To prepare, I will obtain the NCT Study Guide – 2nd Edition, which is the official study guide for this exam, published by the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging.

  • I will apply for the SNMMI-TS Leadership Academy offered by the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging. This is a two-day leadership development program involving team building exercises and networking opportunities. It will cover different aspects of leadership and feature keynote speakers with experience in leadership roles.

  • One of my objectives will be to apply for the Technologist Leadership Development Program provided by the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology. This is a much more in-depth leadership program that lasts three years. The program includes mentorship, society governance/special projects, and leadership skills development. It is a very competitive application process, as they only accept two applicants per year. This is not something that I will pursue immediately but is a future goal.
