About Myself

My name is Kasey Chestnut.

I have over 15 years of experience as a licensed Nuclear Medicine Technologist and currently serve as the Lead Nuclear Medicine Technologist at The Cardiac and Vascular Institute in Gainesville, Florida. I hold an Associate of Science degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology and am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Health Services Administration at Santa Fe College in Gainesville, Florida.

My goal is to become the director of a nuclear medicine department in a hospital or outpatient facility. To achieve this, I am focused on building my leadership skills, clinical expertise, and management experience so I can guide a team committed to excellence in healthcare and drive innovation within the field of nuclear medicine.

Three things I learned while completing the portfolio.

01. The importance of clearly defining my career goal

Completing this e-portfolio was a valuable learning experience. First, I realized the importance of clearly defining my career goal. Rather than pursuing a generic healthcare administrator role, I discovered that my true passion lies in becoming a leader within the field of nuclear medicine technology. This focus helped me clarify my professional direction and set meaningful objectives.

02. A powerful tool for distinguishing myself

Second, I learned that an e-portfolio is a powerful tool for distinguishing myself from other candidates. Unlike a traditional resume, it allows me to share my story, highlight my unique strengths, and communicate what makes me special to prospective employers. This personal touch can provide a significant advantage during the interview process.

03. A concrete plan for achieving my career goals

Finally, I recognized the need to establish a concrete plan for achieving my career goals. Instead of viewing my aspirations as distant ideas, I now understand the importance of outlining clear steps and objectives. This approach ensures that my goals are actionable and attainable, guiding me toward success in my chosen field.

My main strengths and skills

My primary strengths are attention to detail, leadership, adaptability, and my work ethic. Attention to detail is my strongest asset and truly sets me apart from other staff members. In the field of nuclear medicine technology, this quality is especially important because we handle radiation that can have detrimental effects on patients and staff if not managed properly. My work involves a significant amount of quality control procedures and extensive record keeping ensuring safety and compliance. I am exceptionally thorough in my work, ensuring that every task is completed accurately and to the highest standard.

As a leader, I am responsible for managing technologists at three separate locations and coordinating with our staff administrative assistants to provide exceptional patient care. I motivate others, take initiative, and delegate tasks effectively to help our team operate efficiently and maintain high standards of care. I can quickly adapt to changes in daily work, responding effectively to new challenges and shifting priorities. My work ethic ensures that I consistently meet or exceed departmental needs. I am always willing to stay late to get the job done and take on extra responsibilities, demonstrating my commitment to both my team and our patients.

Healthcare Management Talent Quotient Assessment

In my MAN4932 Professional Seminar Course, I was asked to complete a Healthcare Management Talent Quotient test designed to identify healthcare leaders. This assessment evaluates skills, abilities, and job appropriateness through 36 statements, each rated on a scale from 1 (Strongly Disagree) to 4 (Strongly Agree). I achieved a score of 132 out of a possible 144.

For me, this test confirmed that I am pursuing a degree in a field where I can excel. It highlighted that I possess many of the desirable skills required for a position in healthcare administration and reinforced my confidence in my chosen career path.
